Founder, Psychedelic Stroke Institute | Stroke Survivor | Licensed Natural Medicine Facilitator
Jake McWink is the founder of the Psychedelic Stroke Institute, a Colorado Licensed Natural Medicine Facilitator, and a stroke survivor whose own recovery exposed the gap between surviving a stroke and rebuilding a life.
Before entering psychedelic work, Jake spent seven years across technology, data analytics, solution consulting, customer success, and product management. He now brings that systems-oriented background to the complex questions emerging at the intersection of stroke recovery, research, and psychedelic medicine.
Through PSI, Jake is working to build resources for survivors and caregivers, strengthen real-world evidence infrastructure, and create pathways for future research—while ensuring stroke has a place in the broader conversation about psychedelic medicine.
In 2026, Jake spoke at the Aspen Psychedelic Symposium and has shared his story through Denver7, Psychedelic Passage, and Microdosing for Healing. He has also participated in regulatory conversations spanning Colorado’s Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) and the FDA, advocating for greater consideration of stroke survivors and caregivers in research and policy discussions.
His focus is not proving what he believes happened in his own recovery, but helping build the evidence that survivors, caregivers, and clinicians still do not have.

Patrick knows stroke recovery from the side that is often overlooked: the person standing beside the survivor. He supported his husband, Jake, through a stroke at age 29 and again through a serious vascular event six years later, experiencing firsthand the fear, uncertainty, responsibility, and long arc of recovery that extends far beyond the patient.
As Co-Founder of the Psychedelic Stroke Institute, Patrick is dedicated to illuminating the broader impact of stroke - not only on survivors, but on the caregivers, partners, families, and communities who move through recovery alongside them. He brings this caregiver perspective to PSI while helping shape its education, advocacy, community, and organizational development.
Patrick is also a Licensed Natural Medicine Facilitator and co-founder of Alringo, a psychedelic education and consulting organization. Across his work, he is interested in creating spaces where evidence, lived experience, and human connection can inform one another.
His perspective reflects a principle at the heart of PSI: stroke happens to one person, but recovery unfolds across relationships, families, and lives.

Director of Operations. Reality maker extraordinaire. Passionate driver of organizing visions and companies of consequence. Jess Caming has been directing business development and operations for licensed psilocybin healing centers since the legal program was launched in Colorado, and before that cannabis nurseries, cultivations, distribution and manufacturing facilities in the regulated markets of California and Colorado. She has driven the growth of several successful cannabis operations including Node Labs, which now holds the largest cannabis tissue culture library in the world, after a career producing international commercials in the LA film industry.

Matt Grimes
Matt is a business attorney and policy advisor with expertise in natural medicine law and regulatory strategy. He currently serves as Chief Insurance Officer for NPA Services Inc. and sits on the board of the National Psychedelics Association. Matt also serves on the board of the Psychedelic Stroke Institute, is a member of the Americans for Ibogaine project, and previously served as Vice Chair for the American Bar Association’s Cannabis Law & Policy Committee. Matt is devoted to elevating consciousness and raising the vibration of humanity.
Before turning his professional attention to the natural medicine space in 2018, Matt served as a Vice President and Director in Aon’s Professional Services Group where he was a member of the leadership team for the Lawyers Specialty Practice. He and his team designed and placed professional and executive liability programs for the largest law firms in the world.
